—— The art of oriental therapeutic touch

Living in harmony with your body is easier than you think. Learn to breathe, surrender to the art of touch, move better in space and find the right gesture, eat appropriately, here are some keys to a way of life that is, first and foremost , paying attention to yourself. In addition, a body listened to and respected strengthens and supports the mind.

Eastern tradition describes the living world in terms of energy. All living things are considered to be a manifestation of the universal vital energy. Energy is the elemental substance and the driving force of life. It is also a synonym for “breath”.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Qi evokes the breath, the movement, the force of life. It is described in two complementary aspects, Yin and Yang. Without energy there is no life.

Life energy, or “life breath” circulates in the body of all living things. It is considered that the latter goes well beyond simple muscle energy.

The concept of Qi covers all the energies that can be mobilized by a living body, and in humans we recognize all energies, both physical and mental, physiological or psychic.

People in China have found that the health of each individual depends on the proper flow of vital energy in the body and its two complementary polarities, Yin and Yang.

Thus, the body is traversed by subtle channels through which circulates the intangible current that is Qi. These energy channels are called “meridians”. They have been identified and confirmed for 5000 years by traditional Chinese medicine.

Acupressure is an ancient method of Chinese massage based on thousands of years of knowledge related to Qi and its circulation in the body. It is a holistic therapy, derived from Chinese alternative medicine, which mobilizes the meridians and acupuncture points.

Again, these meridians are the circulation routes in which Qi circulates: the fundamental life energy. Qi evokes breath, movement, the force of life.

There are 12 main meridians that run through our body. Each meridian forms a subtle link that connects several acupuncture points.

Instead of using needles as in acupuncture, during an acupressure treatment, the therapist exerts gentle but firm pressure with the palms of her hands and her exercised fingers following your main meridians and certain selected acupuncture points depending on the condition of your body.

This manual intervention on key points of your meridians revitalizes your Qi as a whole: your body, your emotions and your mind considered and treated as a single and inseparable entity. It stimulates your reflex zones; releases your energy blockages and circulates your Qi.

At Zen Ashiatsu, an acupressure massage consists of a gentle but deep massage of your meridians and your acupuncture points; all in synergy with a well-balanced contribution of Western Swedish massage techniques.

This new mixed approach – oriental approach + western approach – of massage is soothing and benevolent; it is experienced as a journey of well-being for your body and your mind while allowing to unblock the energy nodes of your meridians, thus freeing the circulation of your Qi.

It is an energy modality that promotes your relaxation and works very well to relieve yourstress, your anxieties, your nervousness, your fatigue, your headaches, your muscle stiffnesses and your negative emotions (physical, moral, emotional …)

An acupressure treatment helps revive your lymph and blood circulation, and your Qi circulation to rebalance and calm your mind, boost your immune system and pave the way for a greater level of overall well-being.
