Zen Ashiatsu is much more than “A simple walk on your back…”
There is a couple that is coming to take their Zen Ashiatsu treatment regularly; a very beautiful and nice couple.
I am not good – yet ! – at Canadian geography, but from their address I can see that they come from far away; much further than the Shawinigan region. Both of them have suffered from sciatic acute pain and disk hernia problems for a long time. They are text book cases for Zen Ashiatsu therapeutical treatments, and it works very well for them.
I was amazed to discover that it takes so much determination to drive between 3 to 4 hours, back and forth, depending on road conditions and traffic, to come and see me for their treatments. So, I am very touched and thankful for the confidence that they have in me. And each time I see them, I make a special effort to put more attention to better treat them.
One day, after their respective massage, they thanked me again. But just before they left, the lady told me that they like my treatments so much that they went to my Facebook page and shared it with the whole community. They also personally talked about Zen Ashiatsu with their close friends. The funny part was that one of those friends could not understand and kept saying, “Wow, you allow another person to walk on your back ? What is that ?”
She told me “When my friend said that, she was using a very exaggerated dramatic tone, and all of us bursted into laughter.”
“Zen Ashiatsu is not having somebody simply walking on your back,” she answered, “it is much more than that…” And she was right !
Despite the fact that it had been developed and extensively used in China for thousand of years, Zen Ashiatsu is still a totally new kind of massage therapy offered in Canada. It is mostly unknown by the Canadian people. Hence, somehow I need to adopt an educating role and keep repeating to people how Zen Ashiatsu functions and why it can benefit everybody, not only by providing a uniquely efficient natural back and lower back pain management, but also by promoting a genuine holistic health approach and bolstering a much better sleep quality.
There is a saying in Chinese traditional medicine, “The back is like a mirror of your body. ” There are very important meridians along your back, on each side of your spine, from the neck to the feet, their name is “bladder meridian”.
Anybody who has a basic knowledge of Chinese traditional medicine can tell you how important those meridians are. From top to bottom, there are 67 Acupuncture points associated along the whole back; one by one, on each side of the spine. These 67 points are linked with different organs like the heart, lungs, liver, gallbladder, spleen, stomach, kidneys, intestine, bladder or energy levels, including libido.
These very important Acupuncture points are at the centre of the energy structure which affect the whole general energy level in your body, which we call Qi.
Even if the Zen Ashiatsu method is different, its basic principles are like those applied in Acupuncture and Shiatsu. Its main goals are to stimulate these points along the meridians. By applying controlled pressure on these points along your back, we can treat the problems linked with your main organs and release the “tightness” in your muscles to allow a better and more fluid circulation of your Qi in order to revitalize your whole body.
In fact, Zen Ashiatsu can be accurately described as being “Acupuncture without the needles and with the feet.”
That is how Zen Ashiatsu works. It is like all kinds of Chinese traditional medicine and we can not use any western anatomy and physiology theory to explain it. But it works, and it is much more than “A simple walk on your back…
